Meet Lisha Kayrooz: Pop Piano Teacher & Working Musician
Hi, I’m Lisha — a professional pianist and pop piano teacher based in Townsville.
I help adults and teens learn real-world piano skills: playing songs they love, understanding chords and harmony, improvising, accompanying singers, and feeling confident making music with others — not just reading notes off a page.
Unlike traditional piano teachers who come from a purely classical background, my experience comes from actually using piano in the real world, including:
Performing solo piano and accompanying singers
Playing in various cover and tribute bands
Session recording and musical arrangements for other artists
Leading as a Musical Director and conducting workshops
That practical background shapes how I teach. Lessons are personalised around your goals — whether that’s playing pop songs, jamming with friends, writing music, or finally understanding how piano really works.
I also bring a coaching-based approach into my teaching, which helps students move past frustration, self-doubt, and plateaus — so progress feels achievable, not overwhelming.
Whether you’re a complete beginner or already play and want to level up, my aim is simple:
to help you become a confident, creative musician — not just someone practising exercises.
